Criminal justice, and more specifically — criminal justice reform has been quite a hot topic around the nation. More recently, it has become something that some of Hip Hop and the entertainment world’s most prominent figures such as Kim Kardashian, French Montana, and Meek Mil. This year’s A3C Festival in Atlanta, which occurred from October 8th-13th, Charlamagne Tha God moderated a panel on the problems and possible fixes for the American criminal justice system with other notables T.I. and Shaka Senghor, who is a Hip Hop historian.

The discussion titled: “How Can We Fix the Criminal Justice System” featured each one on the panel speak about their own prison experiences and how it could possibly rehabilitate with the right adjustments. The panel also spoke on the difficulties of life after being released from prison (which is what a large part of the concept of a ‘returning citizen’ is about), the school-to-prison pipeline concept, and improper and unfair sentencing.
